El Basque Biodesign Center (BDC) es un edificio único en el corazón de la comarca de las Encartaciones, rodeado de montañas y naturaleza. Con motivo de la celebración de los Días Europeos de la Artesanía, abriremos nuestras puertas al público para que puedan venir a interactuar con nuestra neo artesanía, y explorar la investigación y desarrollo de materiales que se lleva a cabo en el BDC. Durante esa semana, tenemos organizadas las siguientes actividades:

JORNADAS ORAIN! ARTESANÍA E INNOVACIÓN
La jornada, programada para el próximo 27 de marzo, contará con tres conferencias, una mesa redonda de la mano de referentes del sector de la artesanía y las nuevas tecnologías.

ORAIN! llama a analizar la relación entre la artesanía y la tecnología, las posibilidades que se pueden establecer entre la tradición de las prácticas locales con la introducción de la idea de compartir globalmente el conocimiento local. Esto lleva a establecer qué uso se hace de los recursos del territorio y, a raíz de su evolución, la creación de nuevos materiales
Planteamos un punto de encuentro para artesanos interesados en la innovación, para que el conocimiento avance a través de las conexiones y colaboraciones. También presentaremos los proyectos y creadores que forman parte del Basque Biodesign Center y te animamos a venir a conocerlos en persona e intercambiar conocimientos e inquietudes en torno a la innovación.
En el Basque Biodesign Center exploramos los nuevos roles de los artesanos poniendo a prueba los materiales de vanguardia y las nuevas tecnologías, buscando la intersección entre la artesanía tradicional y la innovación. Trabajamos con impresoras 3D de cerámica, que nos sirven como herramienta para diseñar nuevos productos a partir de desechos y residuos, así como con telares digitales Jacquard, que nos permite tejer interpretando la información entre trama y urdimbre como si fueran pixeles.
El BDC tiene claro que la artesanía no está disociada de la innovación, al contrario. La innovación es el futuro. Cómo se avanza actualmente en la artesanía, qué implica la aplicación de la innovación en la práctica tradicional o por qué hay que renovar son algunas de las preguntas que nos planteamos.
VISITAS GUIADAS POR EL CENTRO DEL BIODISEÑO
Desde el martes 28 al viernes 31 de marzo celebraremos unas visitas guiadas por el centro. Durante el recorrido, se explicarán los espacios de trabajo, las instalaciones y mostraremos el trabajo de dos de nuestros investigadores internos, que buscan romper los límites de la artesanía tradicional reimaginando la forma en que interactuamos con la naturaleza.

Con recursos avanzados como la Biblioteca de Materiales, el Bio Lab y el FabLab, el BDC introduce el pensamiento multidisciplinar, los principios del biomimetismo, el diseño bioinformático y las técnicas digitales y de biofabricación.

The Basque Biodesign Center (BDC) is a unique building in the heart of the Encartaciones region, surrounded by mountains and nature. ORAIN! CRAFTS AND INNOVATION SYMPOSIUM
The day, scheduled for March 27th, will feature three lectures, a round table discussion by leading figures in the craft sector and new technologies.

ORAIN! is a call to analyze the relationship between craftsmanship and technology, the possibilities that can be established between the tradition of local practices with the introduction of the idea of global sharing of local knowledge. This leads to establish what use is made of the resources of the territory and, as a result of its evolution, the creation of new materials.
We propose a meeting point for artisans interested in innovation, so that knowledge advances through connections and collaborations. We will also present the projects and creators that are part of the Basque Biodesign Center and we encourage you to come and meet them in person and exchange knowledge and concerns about innovation.
At the Basque Biodesign Center we explore the new roles of artisans by testing cutting-edge materials and new technologies, seeking the intersection between traditional craftsmanship and innovation. We work with ceramic 3D printers, which serve as a tool to design new products from waste and residues, as well as with Jacquard digital looms, which allow us to weave by interpreting the information between warp and weft as if they were pixels.
The BDC believes that craftsmanship is not dissociated from innovation, on the contrary. Innovation is the future. How progress is currently being made in craftsmanship, what does the application of innovation in traditional practice imply or why do we need to reimagine traditional techniques are some of the questions we ask ourselves.

During the tour, we will explain the work spaces, the facilities and show the work of two of our in-house researchers, who seek to break the boundaries of traditional craftsmanship by reimagining the way we interact with nature.
